There’s no denying the fact that the Covid 19 pandemic changed the way we all think about planning celebrating events in our lives. It used to be that people thought of small weddings only as a way to save money. People these days are seeing other benefits of the more intimate setting a micro wedding can provide and choosing to go smaller scale with their wedding. We love this! Your “big day” doesn’t have to be BIG! It can mean so much more to go small.
You most likely have a budget in mind for your wedding that’s been set aside for awhile. While you can of course choose to scale everything down for the small group that will be celebrating you, you can also keep that same budget but spread it more evenly throughout all your items on your list!
So, what am I talking about here? One example here would be that typically, if you’re planning a wedding for 100-150 guests, you need to plan for a minimum of 45%-50% of your overall wedding budget to go towards food, drink, etc.
When you’re having a smaller wedding with 30-40 guests there is a lot more flexibility involved! Instead of a pared down buffet menu for 150 guests, you could have a wonderful local chef create some magic for a sit down dinner with all of your guests. What an amazing guest experience! You can have that wedding cake you’re dreaming of since only 50 guests need to be able to enjoy it with you.
So remember that your budget can do a lot more to create your vision for your day when you’re choosing to have a more intimate wedding.
There are so many small wedding ideas to share! And we all know that small doesn’t have to mean plain, simple, or unstylish. In fact, one of my favorite things about the micro wedding trend is the fact that it allows for some really fun and unique moments style wise that might not be possible at a larger event.
Here are just a few examples:
The bridal bouquet can be a lot more lush and stunning when you have fewer bridesmaids bouquets to include in your floral budget.
Your wedding venue could have that really special floral moment for the ceremony such as a flower archway or floral aisle.
The reception can get really fun, with lights, candles and flowers decorating the smaller area that needs to be covered.
You could hire a bartender to create unique cocktails for your smaller group, or spend a bit more on the wedding favors you’re planning
Wedding flowers at intimate weddings don’t have to be small!
One thing we love to create for clients is an amazing tablescape for the wedding party, their friends and family to sit together at and celebrate the special day.
There is so much more freedom to create these kinds of beautiful moments at a wedding through flowers when you are planning a micro wedding.
A stunningly flowered table for 50 guests at a reception can be so much more memorable for everyone that comes to celebrate you. The intimate vibe of sitting close together, enjoying delicious food over candlelight and flowers, while celebrating the newly married couple is a memory that will last a lifetime. Conversations can be had, the wedding couple can actually sit and eat AND talk to the guests at the same time!
Well, unfortunately this isn’t really something WE can answer for you. We will say, though, that there’s nothing “less than” or “missing” when you choose to have a smaller scale event.
In fact, choosing to have a 30-40 guest wedding within your existing budget can lead to a lot more unique and special moments for you and your guests.
