Our floral design aesthetic here at Foliage is lush, romantic flowers like an overflowing cottage garden. If you’re hoping to create a wedding day full of romantic and charming moments for you and your guests, then we have a few ideas for you!
There are a lot of ways to create romantic moments for your Nashville wedding, and as your florist we are here to do that through the florals!!! How fun!
We’ve provided a few ideas for you here, but always remember not to get overwhelmed by this. Our job as your wedding and events flower designer is to sort out all these little details for you. The purpose of our articles is always to help, inform and encourage you to have fun with your planning process!
Most importantly, remember that there’s no one, perfect, “right” way to plan or execute your wedding.
So with that in mind, here are our suggestions for how we can add in some romance to your event.
A lot of couples like to plan their Nashville wedding flowers with wedding colors that are white or neutral toned flowers and lots of greenery. It’s a classic choice for sure, and looks beautiful! But if you’re hoping to add a bit of romance to your event, don’t be afraid of adding in some more color.
Here at Foliage we LOVE color. Some of our favorite wedding centerpiece ideas come from tonal palettes of blush, burgundy and mauve blended with those more neutral tones.
As soon as you’ve added in some different color levels to your florals, your reception and overall event takes on a more intimate feel.
To get some great ideas about color, check out DesignSeeds.com and their amazing collection of color palettes! One of our favorite collections over there is “Wanderlust” and is inspired by buildings and places all around the world. So much fun to look over these!
Similarly to the way that adding in color to your flowers allows the event to take on a more intimate vibe, using vessels for your florals that aren’t glass vases can add a really wonderful tone to your table decorations.
At Foliage, we have several options for clients to choose from when they use us as their wedding florists, but our FAVORITE vases are our neutrally toned, earthy, ceramic vessels. They add far more interest than glass, and the ceramic material is warm and welcoming, not too formal.
The warm neutral tones fade into the background once the vessels are filled with flowers, but provide a perfect ground for your special occasion flowers.
Candles can add SO much to the overall mood of your event. We love to fill the tables with tea lights and votive candles to add a romantic and moody feel to your wedding table once we’ve place our flowers on there. It takes everything up a notch and creates an instant vibe for your wedding reception that says romance!
Another trend we love using at our smaller, more intimate weddings is taper candles spaced liberally down the reception tables.
When there is a lovely mix of 3 different style candles on a table, your wedding decorations really begin to feel intentional and thought out, and the experience for you and your guests becomes really magical.
So never underestimate the power of candles!! It can change the vibe of your whole event!
Red roses are beautiful, that’s for sure. But that doesn’t mean that you have to use them to create romance for your event! In fact quite the opposite! We’d encourage you to think outside the box, and allow us to play with color palettes and not specific flower types when planning your wedding flowers.
Here are a few other options we like to use:
burgundy or blush toned peonies or dahlias
blush pink astilbe
cream or mauve ranunculus
cappuccino toned roses
sensual anthuriums
fragrant blooms such as garden roses, freesia or lavender
Ultimately, the goal is for you the have fun and enjoy your wedding AND the planning process. We are here to help you navigate all these different options, and can’t wait to make your event a romantic, fun evening to remember!
